Dad wisdom: “Secondhand Sunshine” – It don’t cost me much, but she makes me shine, Polished in her light, and damn, I feel divine. She don’t ask for diamonds, don’t need no throne, Just a little bit of respect and a place of her own. Luxury don’t cost much when you see through her eyes, Everything’s secondhand, but she still makes it rise. Shared, loved, cared for—nothing goes to waste, She turns hand-me-downs into satin and lace. She’s the sunshine, the golden thread, Stitching up the world from a secondhand bed. And when the night gets cold, when the warmth runs out, I’m her scruffy old blanket, no jewels, no clout. I ain’t silk, ain’t sleek, ain’t trimmed in gold, Just a threadbare quilt with a story untold. But I keep her warm, and she keeps me whole, No price on love, no debt on the soul.
